The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards have kicked off and it seems like Shakira, the Latin music queen, is already stealing the show. With a successful career that includes selling 95 million records worldwide, winning three Grammy awards and four Moon Person trophies, it’s no shock that she’s being honored with this year’s Video Vanguard Award.
It’s not often that we get to witness Shakira shining on the public stage, but when she does, she never fails to impress with her stunning fashion choices. At the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, Shakira’s hips didn’t deceive anyone as she walked down the pink carpet in a gorgeous Versace gown made of chainmail fabric. The outfit featured a plunging cowl neckline and a daring thigh-high slit that oozed sex appeal. However, the most eye-catching detail was Shakira’s backless dress with thin tie straps and side-boob-baring sides, which she proudly flaunted as she turned around. To complete the look, the singer added a touch of metallic gold platform Jimmy Choos and kept her accessories to a minimum.
Shakira is a regular at the VMAs, having graced the stage with her mesmerizing voice and enchanting dance moves since the early 2000s. The renowned musician and multicultural icon earned her first Moonman award in 2000 (when it was still called that) and went on to win three more, including one in 2007 for her collaborative track “Beautiful Liar” with Beyoncé. Shakira also made an appearance at the 2009 VMAs, where she shared a funny moment with Pink on the red carpet by wearing the same glittery Balmain LBD.
